What makes us fit?

Six pack abs don't guarantee you're any healthier than the person next to you and a beach body is an idea of vanity sold to you daily by the environment around you. Fitness is more of a concept of how we fit into and function in the world around us. Part of the definition of fitness is an organism's ability to survive and reproduce in a particular environment, nowhere in this definition do they mention the organism's rip, shred, lifting capabilities or abs. The goal shouldn't be a sleeveless shirt or no shirt at all, it should be the ability to move through daily life without the necessity of external intervention at any age.

Movement as a solution

Fitness begins with the mind and a thought converted to movement. Movement is the same tool that as infants we used to learn about the world around us. It was how we interacted with the objects around us to traverse our environment and teach ourselves. We were all little gymnasts, parkour people, yoga masters and power lifters just a bit clumsier and not quite as dynamic. Then as we grew older, we took that little athlete and simplified things, removing the complex movement that made us so dynamic and put it in a chair. By thinking of ways to make life easier we limited our development, movement and health management.

  You can help!

With great strength....

Should come great flexibility, great range of motion and fanatical control. In most cases though the road to great strength leads to static and limited range of motion with decreased overall flexibility. Focusing on the movement of an exercise rather than the weight moved, will lead to more strength and power in a wider range of motion.
